License Information

  • USCG License Number: 3915022

100 Ton Master – 100 Ton Professional Captain with 30+ years experience. Strong engineering background with practical experience in maintenance, diagnostics, repair, fabrication, improvements, improvisation and project management . Experience includes fishing and pleasure charters throughout Bahamas and Florida in Captain seat on sport fish and motor yachts.

Experience

  • Will provide training for these topics:

I am very good at troubleshooting and improvising when necessary, and experience has proven that you have to be prepared for anything on a boat. I excel at navigation, planning, routing and all electronics and if you wish, would welcome the opportunity to help you further understand and learn all of the systems on your boat.
Provisioning for short or long trips is often an overlooked task. Nothing like getting to Nassau and realizing you don’t have enough of your favorite meat, dessert, beer, (fill in the blank) and it’s not available at any price locally. Clearing customs, fueling and berthing in the Bahamas is more of a balance of flattery, nonchalance, and sometimes the right “tip” to make everything go smoothly. I’ve been all over the Abacos, Walkers, Providence, Eluethra, Bimini, etc. in at least 10 different vessels and am good at dealing with the locals. There are times when you have to give a little and times when you have to put your foot down or they will take advantage (and your money) in a big way.

  • Availability:
Typically upon 3 days notice, occasionally less.
  • Available Months:

    January – November

  • Special Comments:

As captain of a vessel, I act as project manager to coordinate any maintenance and repairs required by outside contractors. My duties include insuring the vessel has all necessary safety and navigational gear in good condition/working order/up to date. I inspect engines prior to startup each time to ensure fluid levels, belts, linkages, controls, pumps, exhaust system, fire suppression, water strainers and coolers are all in ready condition before every outing.
Below the water line your boat may need a diver to remove growth and barnacles. I am familiar with several reputable contractors around the Treasure Coast and hope to arrange the best service at the best price for your boat.
Your insurance company will request a hurricane plan and I can assist with writing that along with actually prepping the boat if a large storm or (forbid!) a hurricane heads this way. It’s always best to have an agreement with a marina for a haul out if possible, they fill up very quickly and run out of room regardless of what owners are willing to pay. Either in the water or strapped down on land, canvas, cushions and deck gear must be removed and stowed which is also my responsibility. I am responsible during good weather for a proper tie up at any berth we are at, and during very bad weather I have secured my boat and client’s at berth at least 3 dozen times with no damage whatsoever.
