MarineLab is looking for a Lead Captain to join our team of dedicated marine science educators. MarineLab uses discovery and adventure to teach students and teachers about the ecology and stewardship of the marine environment. We need an experienced, outgoing, self-directed Captain to keep our fleet of boats safe and reliable, coordinate a team of part time captains to drive our students and instructors out to snorkel in the seagrass, mangroves, and coral reef communities, and to demonstrate the highest skill in boat operations through example and training.
The MarineLab Lead Captain will be responsible for ensuring that our fleet is ready at all times to support the MarineLab mission. The fleet consists of four 26′ Twin Vees and one 29′ Twin Vee. A new 30’ Alpha Cat has been ordered.
Job duties include the following:
Driving a boat with students, teachers, and instructors Approximately 50% of the time
Maintaining boats and ensuring they can pass USCG inspections Approximately 25% of the time
Recruiting, training, and scheduling captains Approximately 25% of the time
This is a full-time salaried position, including paid holidays, paid time off, employer-provided health insurance, retirement contribution, and a flexible work schedule. The normal work week is 40 hours.

Captains run our 36′ to 44′ Hinckley yachts for day trips with our members. Schedule is 5 days on, 2 days off and captains are assigned to one harbor per season. Pay is rain or shine and starts at $1100/week plus benefits
