Job Description:

Seasonal Employment Opportunity for a Charter Captain at high profile SE Alaska Fishing Lodge!

The Lodge is a growing, ambitious fishing lodge. As an expanding business we are looking for motivated, honest, hardworking and talented individuals. The lodge is located in a remote fishing village.

The average charter caught halibut in our area is 45 pounds (which is the highest average in the entire state of Alaska)… and is three times bigger than Sitka, Seward or Homer (this is a fact, not a hype, our stats are collected from ADFG statistics). The Highliner Lodge provides the best possible halibut fishing opportunities for our guests in that we have charter halibut permits for both area 2C and area 3A on each boat and provide Guided Angler Fish (GAF) for all of our guests so that they may take a trophy sized halibut that they otherwise would have to release due to regulations.

Here, we are allowed to keep two halibut per day of any size for our guests. Most lodges in SE Alaska are restricted to one small fish per day. We also have the best king salmon catch rate in the state: 3 times better than Ketchikan, 4 times better than Petersburg, 10 times better than Juneau, 40 times better than Seward… and equal to, or better than, Sitka (again fact, not hype, from NMFS statistics). Where would you choose to take your guests fishing?

Where do you want to go with your career?

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking for long term employment with a growing company. Possible advancement / year around employment / profit sharing for the exceptional individual.

Qualifications: USCG NEAR COASTAL or better licensed, preference for experience fishing SE Alaskan saltwater (outside waters), hardworking, great people skills, attention to detail, good references, team player, must be very light or non-drinker and NO DRUGS. Pre-employment drug testing and enrollment in our random drug/alcohol testing program required.

We expect superior performance from our employees, in personal hygiene, professional contact with our customers and relations with other employees. The most important traits we look for when hiring a person is a good attitude and strong work ethic. You must also be adaptable, willing to help out in any capacity, and a team player. We fish ~4 guests per boat (they are 30-37′) and you will not have a deckhand (unless running our 50′ Delta). If you aren’t willing to put in long hours, this is not the place for you. We expect good manners, good grooming, and a professional appearance beyond reproach.

General Duties:
Guided fishing
Boat and lodge maintenance

Contract Period:
Approximately May 15 – Sept 1 (subject to change, possible extension depending on bookings)

Compensation:
Base salary of $5,000-$7,0000/month (DOE)
Gratuities averaging $300-400/day
Generous bonus potential (end of season and performance bonuses)
Referral bonus ($200 per guest that you bring to us)
Room and board included

Future Opportunities:
Annual Return Bonus
Vested Ownership Opportunities
Career Development
