The Boat Club — on the Hudson River, just north of the Bridge) is looking to hire qualified Launch Operators for the upcoming 2019 season. Oldport 26 Launch Vessel, USCG inspected, 22-person capacity. USCG Limited Masters License, or other inspected vessel USCG license, and TWIC required.

We begin our season in early May and run through mid October. We seek to fill two positions: one for the entire season (May-Oct), and the second from Memorial Day to mid-September, both about 30-35 hour/week. We also have need for “fill-in” substitute drivers throughout the season.

Shifts are weekdays 6 to 8 hour starting in the afternoon, and weekends 10 to 13 hours from morning through evening. Basic duties include providing safe transportation to and from moored vessels and perform additional tasks as needed, for example, light boat maintenance and cleaning, greeting transients, etc.
Rate of pay is $18-$20/hr depending on schedule and experience.

We are looking for Licensed 100 ton Captains, both full and part time for expanding sightseeing tour company in Downtown Miami. Will be responsible for the safe operation of the vessel along with the safety of all passengers and crew, on daily sightseeing and party cruises, as well as private charters. Chesapeake Windsail Cruises is seeking USCG licensed captains with a sailing endorsement and experience on the Chesapeake Bay. Minimum of five (5) years of marine experience preferably to include two (2) years as a captain with an outstanding record on tour or sightseeing boats. Must currently possess a six Pack or Master Captains license with a sailing endorsement and a satisfactory record. The ideal candidate must have mechanical & maintenance experience, good communications skills, knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay and an understanding of the Chesapeake Bay’s history. You will rotate as cruise captain and ensure that all procedures as outlined in the Operation-Boat Manuals are carried out. This includes, but is not limited to, maintenance and repairs on the vessel. Maintenance on the vessel includes maintaining the appearance of the vessel and regularly scheduled engine maintenance and repairs such as oil changes, filter changes, impeller changes, and belt changes. Other responsibilities include preparing the vessel for the annual Coast Guard inspection, pre-cruise preparation, adherence to cruise scripts, supervision of crew, proper piloting of vessel, and adherence to all Coast Guard rules and regulations. POSITION SUMMARY

The Ferry Captain is responsible for the safe transportation of all island visitors to and from Thompson Island on our 65’ passenger ferry. In addition, the Ferry Captain may be responsible for operating a smaller vessel to support the Programs Department in student course evacuations and on an in-need basis. The Ferry Captain reports to the Director of Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– Serves as Master of a 65’ USCG inspected passenger vessel.

Position Summary

The Captain directs the vessel’s activities and operates the vessel safely and efficiently while supervising onboard crew. Sea Tow is hiring a full-time captain for marine assistance/towing to pleasure boaters at it’s location in Florida. A rare captain’s position that allows you to go home at night! Position is primarily based at our location in Florida, but occasionally providing some coverage on our boat docked in Doctors Lake and the St. John’s river. You will be on a set hourly schedule and some on call after hours. Pay is hourly, on call pay and commissions for salvage work. To qualify, you need at least an OUPV captain’s license with a towing endorsement and good small boat handling skills, as our fleet of towboats consist of vessels from 22 to 26 feet in length. It is required that we will place you on our random drug testing program. The position also includes some light boat maintenance and office duties of dispatching and basic computer skills. Coordinate and participate in Coast Guard certified training with crew mates insuring that training times are communicated to crew mates and the training is documented in the log book
Ensure all functions of the vessel are working properly prior to each cruise this includes and is not limited to checking to make sure the vessel has enough fuel, engine oil, black water levels, and potable water levels
Ensure that main generator, backup generator and entertainment systems are working properly
Ensure that the canopy covering 2nd level of the Lady Liberty is free of any water to ensure guest safety from water run off while vessel is operating
Ensure all issued equipment such as hand held radios, PFDs, etc. is returned and in good working condition

They shall be licensed by the United States Coast Guard to operate the vessel and insure that all rules and regulations are followed as set forth for each vessel they are assigned to operate. The Captain will also assume responsibility for seeing that the vessel and its crew are ready to accept passengers and provide the tour and associated activities in a professional and timely manner.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Ensure passenger safety at all times, provide excellent customer service, Pilot and maintain control of company vessel on assigned route, conduct emergency preparedness drills, participation in required training programs, directing the handling vessel lines and running gear, supervising the loading of equipment and stores, posting a watch, Assuring Vessel security protocols are executed, supervise and perform light janitorial duties, light maintenance, interact with passengers, conduct safety inspections, Manage assigned vessel crew in accordance with Company policy and USCG requirements. Implement company SMS and Security plan for the vessel assigned, light clerical duties including filling reports and logs.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Ability to successfully complete orientation and position specific training, Pass a criminal background check as required, Obtain CPR/First aid certification and obtain a TWIC card as required. The ability to input data using a computer and other traditional means.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Captains frequently spend long hours standing in the pilothouse while piloting a vessel and while boarding/ disembarking passengers. This is often outdoors during all weather conditions in and around the Chicago are waterways. The Captain will frequently get under way on the vessel and will be subject to the effects of the marine environment. The Captain may spend time in cramped conditions below decks while performing his/her duties.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Required to stand, sit and kneel for extended periods, Required to carry loads up to 50lbs unassisted, Required to push loads of 100lbs unassisted, Required to work with arms extended upright for extended periods while using tools or devices, Require to work while arms extended outward for extended periods using tools or devices, Required to work in cramped quarters and fit through deck hatches of 20” diameter. Required to conduct tasks while wearing the appropriate PPE.
