We are seeking a skilled and responsible Boat Captain to oversee vessel operations and ensure the safety and satisfaction of passengers for June 1, 2026-September 15, 2026. Housing on the Island is paid for. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, mechanical knowledge, and experience throughout Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and MA/RI. iThis role involves navigating waterways, managing mechanical systems, and keeping the vessel in trip ready at all times. A background with jet drives needed.
– Conduct routine maintenance checks on mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance
– Plan routes considering weather conditions, water traffic, and safety protocols
– Handle emergency situations calmly and effectively, demonstrating strong skills
– USCG license 50T

Assist in the safe navigation and operation of charter vessels.
Perform deck duties including line handling, anchoring, and mooring.
Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the vessel’s deck and equipment.
Assist with vessel maintenance and repairs as directed.
Provide excellent customer service to charter guests.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
Participate in safety drills and emergency procedures.
Assist with loading and unloading of supplies and equipment.
Maintain accurate logs and records as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Captain or Mate.

The schooner Woodwind fleet in Annapolis has two, identical 74-foot schooners. They are entering an exciting new chapter. We’re now part of 59º North Sailing, an internationally respected sailing company known for offshore passages, hands-on seamanship, and a strong, people-first team culture.

There’s a personal connection here as well: 59º North Sailing co-founder Andy Schell got his start in professional sailing as a deckhand aboard Schooner Woodwind in 2006.

We’re looking for a professional, capable, and personable captain who takes pride in their seamanship, enjoys sharing sailing with the public, and treats these boats as if they were their own.

We are looking for a captain and also crew.

The Tour Boat Captain is responsible for the safe and professional operation of company vessels while delivering an exceptional experience for all guests. This role includes navigating and maneuvering the tour boat through the Soo Locks and surrounding waterways, complying with all U.S. Coast Guard regulations, company policies, and safety procedures, and working closely with the crew to ensure smooth boarding, departures, and tours. Captains are expected to maintain situational awareness, communicate clearly with lock personnel and crew, and respond effectively to changing weather and waterway conditions. Applicants must hold a valid U.S. Coast Guard 100-Ton Master License with the ability to meet all licensing, medical, and drug testing requirements as required by the U.S. Coast Guard.

$1400 a week pay plus tips.

This boat is in a Boyscout program called seabase. The job would entail teaching 12-21 year old scouts and
Chaperones sailing and keeping them busy for 5 nights 6 days.

You will sail around St. John and St Thomas, itinerary is totally up
To the captain. Food is included and housing on board the vessel.

Vessel has private aft cabin with shower and toilet.

Must have OUPV with sail endorsement and be able to pass a background check to be around the scouts.
