REMSA Inc. Coastal & Marine Division is seeking skilled and experienced Independent Contracting Boat Operators to conduct surveying operations during dredging and pile driving projects. Since 1999, REMSA, Inc. has been involved in conducting water quality surveys in support of environmental compliance for offshore industrial operations requiring compliance in accordance with environmental regulations and permits.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Boat Operators will operate an assigned survey vessels/boats during dredging and pile driving projects on various waterways along the East Coast in the United States. Operators will be required to perform duties in adverse/inclement weather aboard vessels/boats at sea. Must be able to work independently and follow technical instructions as required.
Job include, but are not limited to the following:
Ensure compliance with the maritime, federal, state and local law, to include other regulations in accordance with the USCG basic water-safety guidelines.
Read weather reports and adjust navigation as appropriate.
Analyze maps and record GPS coordinates of sampling locations.
Understand and comply with standard procedures and guidelines for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound vessels/boats.
Conduct daily inspections of the assigned vessel to ensure seaworthy condition and arrange for maintenance and repair activities to correct any damages as required.
Adhere to the policies and work related specs as required.
Plan and implement daily/weekly maintenance work on the vessel/boat.
Submit prompt written and verbal incident reports to the Company and clients as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience operating a survey vessel.
Possess a professional Captain’s License.
U.S. Citizen or have authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.
Valid Driver’s License & Clean Driving Record.
Must have the ability to adapt to changing conditions and respond to emergency situations.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, operate in confined spaces, and climb ladders aboard ships and crew boats when required.
Must have a Federal TWIC clearance (the physical card must be on hand prior to accepting work assignments).
Education, Skills and Experience:
Minimum GED or High School diploma W/ experience operating a small vessel during marine construction projects.

Position Reports to: Membership Director
Summary of Duties:
Must be self-motivated and dedicated candidate with a strong attention to detail. Must be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines. The Operations Manager will work with the Carefree Boat Club team as well as Marine Dock personnel to handle all operational duties to ensure boats are maintained and ready for member use. The Operations Manager is expected to exhibit excellent organizational, communication and management skills, and thrive in a leadership position.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with Carefree Boat Club staff and as directed by the Membership Director to assure daily operations are efficient and on time at both area locations.
Develop and maintain key operational reports to be submitted to the General Manager and Membership Director.
Provide highest level of customer service for existing and new members. Implement, schedule, and execute New Member Orientation and “on the water” training for all new members.
Effectively manage Marine Dock personnel to maintain positive control of daily dock operations and safety.
Assist team members in resolving customer concerns quickly and efficiently.
Follow written operational procedures for both locations.
Must be available after hours and weekends, comfortable with flexible hours and taking phone calls virtually any time.
Key Qualifications:
Prior management experience of hourly and exempt personnel.
Experience managing all aspects of workflow and how to maintain accountability within the team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Unrestricted driver’s license and clean driving record.
Basic Knowledge of boat mechanics able to troubleshoot and handle basic maintenance such as replace/change battery or change a propeller.
Boating experience required. Additional training will be provided.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to tow boats between locations.
Excellent problem solving ability.
Willingness to personally work on boats to clean and prepare boats for members.
Leadership and communication abilities that enhance the teamwork culture within the Carefree Boat Club team.
Additional Requirements:
Occasional filling in for other employees.
