Job Description: The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a yacht captain, specifically with charters. The role requires a warm and friendly individual who is well-organized and maintains a high level of professionalism. Looking for a young, energetic, happy, drug free and fun Captain for a full or part-time position on a newly refurbished 1947 60-foot Trumpy Houseboat which will be at home on the St. Johns River in Orange Park. Limited Cap experience okay. The owners plan to make increasingly larger shake down cruises on the St. John… then down the Intracoastal to FLL… the Keys… Bahamas… the Florida mini-loop and possibly the Great Loop. The owners, a married couple, enjoy having friends and family on board for dinner cruises… cruises to a local yacht club… we enjoy being on the hook, as well as, staying over in marinas. Duties include provisioning, trip planning, securing steward or stewardess assistance, as needed, simple meal prep, and keeping the “Jewel Box” sparkling… Cheers!!

The NESS USCG Licensed Captain – Marine Science & Adventure Sports (MSAS) Educator helps New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) implement high quality programming with an active, hands-on, experientially oriented marine science-based lessons. Programs are for students ages 11-17 in subjects such as powerboating, fishing, surfing, and adventure sports. Qualified applicants will hold at minimum an OUPV 6-Pack license issued by the US Coast Guard. They will be passionate, motivated, able to work within a team as well as on their own and have proven skills working with children of all ages. MSAS Educators will be assigned to support NESS programs based on educational background and previous experience.

The Master Captain will operate New England Science & Sailing’s twenty-seven-foot inspected vessel NESSie. NESSie is an open, flat bottomed, Carolina Skiff certified for carrying up to eighteen passengers. The Master Captain will operate NESSie in support of educational programs, public tours, and private charters. Cruising area includes Stonington, Fishers Island Sound, Mystic, Watch Hill, RI and the Pawcatuck River.

This position will work in a dynamic outdoor education environment as a key member of the NESS team. This individual must be personable and comfortable interacting with students and adults of varying ages and experience with boats and the surrounding water.
