Drive the boat. Need to move the boat from Ft Lauderdale to Punta Gorda safely and efficiently.

We’re seeking a USCG Licensed Captain for a 45′ sailing yacht. This seasonal role involves safely skippering the vessel for adult sailing lessons and scenic cruises. Your primary responsibility is the safety of all on board and the boat’s navigation.

​You’ll collaborate with a US Sailing Certified Instructor who handles the curriculum, while you ensure all operations adhere to USCG regulations. You must have an OUPV license, current First Aid/CPR, a TWIC card, and significant experience captaining similar vessels.

​This role demands exceptional seamanship, weather monitoring skills, and a professional, customer-focused attitude. Local Peconic Bay knowledge is desirable.

The vessel is a 100’ Giorgetti & Magrini ketch-rigged sailing yacht with accommodations for 12 students and 6 staff. Staff quarters are separate from students and are in shared cabins with a shared bathroom.

This is a year round position with up to 30-days of PTO from the vessel.

Students will be onboard 30-35 weeks per year. During expeditions, expect a 7-day work week with days off in port. The vessel may be chartered during off weeks.

The Captain is responsible for manning the vessel in between student expeditions. While students are not onboard, there is a standard 5-day work week.

Minimum Qualifications:
USCG 100-Ton Master License
5+ years as Captain / Master of a sailing vessel
Passion for at-risk Youth

Captain the boat from Lake Union Seattle down the coast to Astoria or Portland. We have not purchased the yacht until we know we can get it moved this fall. If not, then we shall wait to buy it in the spring.
