We are looking for an experienced USCG Captain to join our team leading tours out of Awendaw, Mount Pleasant, Charleston, and Johns Island, South Carolina.

DUTIES
Serving as a Captain for public and charter trips, as needed
Helping crew prepare for trips, cleaning and disinfecting the boat between departures
Overseeing the condition of the boat and fueling the vessel
Working flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Supervising crew and clients on-board the vessel

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid USCG Masters Captain’s License and related documents
Two years of full-time experience
Strong work ethic
Vessel maintenance and mechanical knowledge

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and enjoyment working with people and interpreting nature

HOURS
We are hiring part-time and full-time positions. Candidates should be willing to work some weekends and holidays through peak seasons, including the fall, spring and summer months.

COMPENSATION
This is an hourly position with a base wage starting at $20/hour plus tips, as well as a stipend for health insurance and benefits. After a successful probationary period, the candidate will be eligible for the Coastal Expeditions IRA matching program.

Our growing team is looking for USCG licensed captains to operate the Club’s meticulously maintained 36′ – 44’ Hinckley yachts throughout South Florida, South Carolina, and the Northeast. B&G captains operate day and evening trips and are back in their home port each night, enjoying a lifestyle unique in the industry.

Our captains have the opportunity to work with the Club year-round or seasonally in our South Florida, South Carolina, and Northeast harbors. Seasons run June to October in the Northeast, and November to May in our southern and Bahamas harbors.

We are currently looking to hire experienced Expedition Boat Drivers and Guides for our 2022 Alaska season, which will run from early May until August 24, 2022.

We are looking for skippers for our 12-guest capacity expedition Zodiac boats who can be guides as part of the expedition team onboard MS Roald Amundsen, the world’s first hybrid powered expedition ship.

Essential Qualifications :

Candidates must be qualified to take command of a vessel transporting 12 fee-paying guests in US waters.
US Citizenship and a valid passport
US Masters 50- or 100-ton near-coastal license
Valid First Aid and CPR certification
Covid Vaccinations mandatory
Desirable Qualifications:

Experience in expedition cruising
Guest focused with experience in the tourism and/or customer service industry
Strong knowledge of marine wildlife, local geography, history and/or indigenous culture a strong asset

JOB SUMMARY

Navigate Amphibious vehicles through the city streets of Ketchikan and the Tongass Narrows while conducting 90-minute tours.

Responsibilities

A professionally qualified, experienced tradesperson as well as a commander of a vessel. As a captain, your main objectives are to complete a vehicle inspection of the Amphibious vehicles every morning before arriving at the dock, oversee the safety of your passengers and crew, and navigate the roads and narrows of Ketchikan during your assigned tours within the allotted time frame. Be informative, pleasant, and upbeat as you interact with your passengers. Other duties include –but are not limited to giving the safety speech at the onset of each tour, informing passengers of the merchandise sold on board, answering questions, helping passengers onto and off of the Amphibious vehicles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Complete vehicle inspection every morning and every evening.

Safely navigate city streets and waterways of Ketchikan and the Tongass Narrows

Provide accurate passenger counts and maintain precise ticket counts.

Keep open radio communication with management and assist with the departure of the Amphibious vehicles .

Convey a sense of professionalism in both demeanor and appearance.

Possess excellent customer service skills.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a 25 ton Master’s license and a CDL w/Passenger Endorsement, TWIC Card, CPR/First Aid Certification, Medical Examiner’s certificate, Marine Radio Operators Permit, & provide a copy of a current DMV Record. Must be able to assist in safety drills and vehicle inspections. Must pass a drug test before employment and at random throughout the entire season.

• Culture & Values : Being a Cycleboat Crewmember can be a very enjoyable position for those who like interacting with their passengers and sharing their knowledge of the Boston Harbor.

• Responsibilities: SEEKING LICENSED BOAT CAPTAINS- mature, detail-oriented, licensed Captains for our three USCG Certified 16, 24 & 26 passenger cycleboat vessels with auxiliary outboard motor. Candidates will operate 1 ½ hr Boston Inner Harbor tours with an assisting crewmember. Captains will supervise and assist crewmember when needed in daily setup, passenger boarding and supervision, routine maintenance and end of day cleanup. The Captain will have final responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

• Requirements: Must have USCG Master Captain’s License 25 ton minimum, knowledge of Coast Guard safety procedures and Emergency Drills to ensure safety of all passengers and crew members, be able to comply with Coast Guard requirements including drug and alcohol program, CPR and First Aid certification, Transportation Workers Identification TWIC Card. Applicants should have good interpersonal skills, and enjoy interaction with passengers. A general knowledge of or desire to learn and share details of the history and point of interest of the Boston Harbor will be helpful. A strong focus on safety and a desire to deliver friendly service is very important.

• Job Types & Season: Mid April thru October full-time or part-time positions available – Some weekend and holiday availability is required.

• Pay: $30/hr + tips that can be very generous – Tips are divided equally between Captain and Assistant

• Schedule: Shifts set weekly can vary from 3.5hrs to 12hrs per day with an attempt to accommodate but can not guarantee crewmembers scheduling preferences. Some weekend and holiday availability is required.

• Supplemental Pay and Benefits: Tips can be very generous – Parking reimbursement
